Dr. Belonwu Mends Onyenekwe obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus in 1980. He enrolled into the residency program of National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria after national service and graduated in 1990 specializing in Internal Medicine (Endocrine, Diabetes & Metabolism sub-specialty). Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences and also a Consultant Physician / Endocrinologist at University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku Ozalla, Enugu. His research interests are in the field of diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, metabolic and liver diseases.
